Scott Brown is the author of the Job Search Handbook and editor of HireSites' newsletter.

As both Author and Editor, Mr. Brown has written many of the articles and has provided career counseling to people who have had questions about their own careers and workplace issues.

In addition to writing the Job Search Handbook and HireSites' newsletter, Mr. Brown has contributed articles to HR.com, The Employment and Career Channel, and the Professional Resume Writing and Research Association (PRWRA). In early 2005, Mr. Brown conducted a PRWRA workshop attended by many prominent professional resume writers on “Using Job Boards Effectively.”

The Job Search Handbook, published by HireSites.com, draws on Mr. Brown's career counseling advice and own personal career transition experiences.

Mr. Brown is also a talented software developer having been involved in designing the technology platform behind HireSites’ web-based services. He was CIO at the TemPositions Group of Companies, the largest group of affiliated staffing companies in the New York City metropolitan area and served as Vice President, Technology, of Accufacts Pre-Employment Screening.

As co-founder of Powerboard Software, Mr. Brown was instrumental in developing a software package prior to the advent of the web browser that let people create their own online services - sort of like a mini-Yahoo or mini-AOL.

In 1994 when the big online services like Prodigy, CompuServe and AOL added graphical web browsing as a feature, Mr. Brown’s business was quickly displaced by the new technology. The ensuing transition from being a partner in a successful business to an employee gave Mr. Brown the opportunity to learn first hand what works and doesn’t work in a career search.

Mr. Brown holds a degree in business management from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
